Hi , I'm Thelia Foster

I was born in Montreal, Quebec, and I am a multimedia artist with a passion for working with a variety of materials, including fibers, textiles, clay, and metals.

After relocating to Calgary, I embraced my love for metalsmithing by enrolling in the Metals Program at the Alberta College of Art and Design, where I honed my skills in silversmithing.

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to participate in various exhibitions, such as Body Ornament West and the Opera Coat Project, and I was honored to be named the solo artist for the Afrikadey 2005 Festival.

My work has been featured in several publications, including Coastal Living, "Where in Calgary," Style Canada, and the Calgary Herald Alberta Artist Series. You can find my creations in museum shops, art galleries, and specialty stores across Western Canada.

In addition to my artistic endeavors, I am a certified Color and Crystal Therapist and Clinical Aromatherapist. I have had the privilege of teaching classes for organizations like the Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta, the Calgary Women’s Centre, and the Canadian Mental Health Association, as well as offering private sessions in my studio.

For many years, I have lived with chronic pain and fibromyalgia, and my journey to healing has been intertwined with my artistic expression. Creating art has become my way of processing and soothing the physical and emotional challenges I face daily.

It has taught me to focus on the beauty and strength within, helping me find a sense of peace and purpose. This personal experience with healing deeply influences my designs and process, which are rooted in positivity and combine symbols of well-being. Art ignites a special part of the soul.

Through my work, my goal is to help others feel more balanced, empowered, and connected to themselves—whether they are seeking comfort from physical challenges like I have or simply a sense of well-being in mind, body, and spirit. Art heals.
